Cactus and Succulents

Today I wanted to share my cactus and succulent collection with you.  This summer my Pickle cactus has bloomed 4 times.  It has a brilliant orange bloom that only lasts 1 day.
The Pickle cactus is on bottom and a varigated prickly pear cactus on top, both from Houston
Green prickly pear cactus from Houston
This is a pass along plant that I received from a lady at work.  It is an African carrion (Stapelia Grandiflora).  It will have a starfish like bloom and you had better stay away because it smells horrible.
I have 2 barrel cactus from Arizona, 2 agave, aloe vera, 2 Thanksgiving cactus and several other cacti and succulents.
There are several areas on the acreage where native prickly pear cactus is growing.  It blooms for me every year.
I bought these at an estate sale. The one on the right is a Zebra Haworthia.  I believe the one on the left is an aloe.
Until next time,

Wow, you certainly do have quite the collection. I would think that they would be pretty easy care as they don't need regular watering?

Seeing these photos so reminded me of Arizona where my great Uncle lives-I LOVE the dry heat out there compared to our humid heat here...I am always so envious of those with green thumbs!
Lovely photos!

Hi! I found your blog doing a google alert with cacti and succulents. You have a very nice collection! If you visit my blog you will see that I love succulents very much. So much so that all my planters plus tons of pots are dedicated to them. I guess I am a cactus freak. But I live in northern California and they do pretty well there except in the winter.

I love the macro shot you took of your wild prickly pear cactus. Great looking flower. There are soooo many different kinds of opuntia's. Take care and hope to talk with you soon.

By the way Julie and I are becoming great friends!

Summer is a great time to share cactus. They like it hot, and the weather accommodates. Have a happy 4th.~~Dee
