It's Friday and time to Flaunt Your Flowers.....if you still have anything blooming!

This week the annual State Fair is being held in Oklahoma City. My family loves the fair and we have been spending a lot of time there so not much time for pictures of the yard. I'll post more about the fair later.

I did have time to snap a few pictures of my miniature roses that have started blooming again.

I try really hard to document everything that is growing in my yard but I cannot find the label for this rose and it is absolutely stunning. The picture does not do it justice. The little blooms are about 1 inch across. Wish I knew the variety so I could share it with you.

This mini rose is called Sunsplash Everblooming but here in Oklahoma it stops blooming when the temperatures are above 90 degrees. It is very happy now that the temperatures are not getting above 80.

Mosaic Monday - Silver and Pink

Above are some of my favorite silver items that are in my home.

I am really drawn to pink right now...I don't know why...I am not a pink person. But it is still warm here in Oklahoma so I am not ready to usher in fall yet. I decided to create a pink collage that includes our flamingo that hangs in the back yard.

The little guy that ran away

This week the rain just would not stop and the grass was up to my ankles.  Finally the rain let up for about 4 hours so I went outside and mowed...yes...I mowed wet grass and it worked out okay.  While I was mowing the front yard this little guy was trying his hardest to get in my hair.  So you know what that means, I ran inside and got the camera.

You can see trees in the background but it was like he was hanging from the sky. 

He is turning to run away.  I think he had the same thoughts my granddaughters have....run away...she has the camera again!

Now for an experiment.  I am working on making my own signature and I am trying to make it transparent so my background will show through.  The thing is, I won't know exactly what it looks like until I post this.  So here goes.

Fertilizer Friday Flaunt your Flowers Sept 18

This Red Spider Lily is the only new bloom I had in the yard this week.  It was just starting to open in my last Flaunt your Flowers post.

BUT I still have butterflys in my garden.  They love the zinnias. 

I have some software called Snag It that I use daily.  You can "snag" anything that is on your computer screen and save it to a pdf file, jpg, png, Word document, etc.  I originally used it for writing documentation before I retired.  Today I used it to edit my photos.  It sure is easy to use and I like the effects you can create.

Crafting your Own Online Journal

Since I am fairly new to the blogging world I have been searching the local metropolitian library for every book I can find related to blogging.  This is my most recent find and it is a great book.  Rarely do I read a book cover to cover but I could not put this one down.  The author gives lots of information that us newby bloggers can use and some of you that have been around a while may pick up a trick or two.  She also talks about many wonderful blogs that are related to "crafters, artists and creatives of all kinds". 

So I recommend this book if you are a blogger or are interested in starting a blog.  It is a fun book and an easy read.

Mosaic Monday - Shades of Yellow

It seems like everywhere I look outdoors there is something yellow blooming.  The wild sunflowers are everywhere.  We had a wild fire go through our community last April and where there were burned trees there are thousands of yellow wild sunflowers coming up.  It is beautiful.  So I felt like my Mosaic Monday should be Shades of Yellow, pictures taken in my yard and my daughters yard.

Blooming in my yard this week are yellow.....cannas, lantana, zinnia, melampodium, wild sunflowers and my watermelon plants are still blooming.  The shrubs with yellow varigated foliage are Acuba, Euonymus and Tapioca plant.   The large wild sunflowers are in my daughters yard, aren't they just beautiful?

Sewing Again

Today there has been a light rain all day long.  This means I get to sew a little.  At a recent quilt show in Oklahoma City I bought a jelly roll of Moda's Tula Pink Neptune fabric.  I had been inspired by Old Red Barns quilt along and thought the jelly roll strips would make for quick piecing of a scrappy rail fence. 

So you can see I pieced a few blocks today.

I am cutting the strips 8 1/2 inches long, 4 strips per block. I put 4 various strips together then criss-crossed them for each block.  I have 33 more blocks to piece.

Well, I better get back to piecing before the sun comes out and I have to start pulling weeds again.
